Milton is a small town in Santa Rosa County, and the home of  NAS Whiting Field. Residents love the small-town vibe, affordable homes, and easy commutes to area installations. The Blackwater River, and several tributaries permeate the city and Milton is actually known as the “canoe capital of Florida.” There are ample opportunities for outdoor recreation like fishing, boating, scuba or snorkeling in the rivers, bays and the Gulf. Blackwater River State Forest is also nearby with all sorts of adventures waiting. Downtown Milton offers a little culture and old Southern history, with mom-and-pop shops aplenty.


Milton is home to a ton of military retirees and active duty families. The small town vibe, plus the predominance of military-affiliated neighbors helps with fostering a tight-knit community.
