Naval Air Station Whiting Field is nestled in northern Santa Rosa County and provides services and support for training military aviators. Training Air Wing Five provides all advanced helicopter training for the Navy, Marines, and Coast Guard, and more than half of all primary flight training. Accounting for over 11 percent of all naval flight hours, NAS Whiting Field is the busiest naval air station in the world!

Life at NAS Whiting Field is slower-paced and removed from the hustle and bustle of busy Pensacola. Surrounded by pine forests, you have ample opportunity to do some outdoor exploring, and yet is still just a short drive to the pristine Emerald Coast beaches. Splash pads, pools, a Navy Exchange, swimming pool, and playgrounds are just some of the amenities available in the base housing communities. Many military families choose to live in the small towns of Milton and Pace, but some also choose to live in Pensacola. If you are training at NAS Whiting Field and will eventually be reporting to NAS Pensacola (or vise-versa), you might consider living in northeast Pensacola or Pace. That way you’ll be halfway between each installation.
