North Columbus

About

North Columbus is where the locals go for shopping and a night out on the town. This bustling area is where you’ll find many recognizable shops and go-to brands. If you “need to be near a Target,” this is your place! It’s considered the hub of Columbus and is home to movie theaters, great restaurants, and hotels.

Neighbors

While each neighborhood offers its own homegrown blend of local flavor, you’ll frequently spot uniforms in the area. Some of the city’s wealthiest families reside in North Columbus, but there are still very reasonably priced homes to be found. This area is highly attractive to families as well as retirees.

Neighborhood Feel

Here you can find anything from quiet golf course living to high-rise apartments and everything in between. Most homes and neighborhoods are established with mature landscaping, but you’ll frequently smell fresh paint and see baby trees. Some neighborhoods can be quite pricey and are home to Columbus’ professional community. Crime rates are low, and the schools are fantastic.

Things to Consider

The commute is a bit longer (20-30 minutes on average), and traffic around the shopping centers can be thick during peak times.

North Columbus and Midland are relatively safe, but there are some neighborhoods and areas that are safer than others. It’s recommended to investigate the area before you buy thoroughly. If you need some help, check out our Scout page!

How’s the market?

Home values can range from $160,000 to million-dollar-plus properties, but the median home value is between $107,000 and $132,000. The average Columbus home value is $149,518, up 6.8% over the past year, and goes to pending in around seven days, according to Zillow’s Home Values Estimate (May 2023).

Maple Ridge and Green Island Hills, for example, can be particularly pricey, but military families tend to look for homes in nearby Arbor Ridge, Midland Springs, and Stone Mill.

The proximity to shopping and main roadways makes for consistent expansion and turnover. The market is constantly moving here, and the vacancy rate is higher than average, so you should have no problems finding properties or rentals.
